I'll Take Advantage While You Hang Me Out To Dry

It was the summer of 1993. We were on summer holidays. We had almost three years living in our new house. It just had been such an expensive investment. My dad had bought the house to a guy with gambling troubles, and he didn't have enough money. We stayed the entire summer holidays at home, mainly watching TV day after day. Before we had our own house, we lived in an small apartment in the sixth floor of a cute building and we were used to go to the beach each summer holidays.

Watching TV was a punishment. There was nothing really entertaining to watch, except two or three sitcoms. Guess I enjoyed Blossom and Step By Step. Of course, we could read too, but neither my brother nor I did it.

I was 13 years old, just about to enter high school.

In that summer holidays a friend of my parents visited us at our new house. He was an old friend of both. They lived in the same neighborhood when they were young. He was a lawyer and he had supposedly studied at UCLA. Before he became a lawyer he was an immigrant and he had passed rough times. He was homeless and terribly ill, about to die, when Mona, a beautiful yugoslav, saw him and took care of him.

They lived together for several years as a couple and they had a baby girl. Her name was Tania. They broke up when Tania was 10 years old, but they were still best friends.
When José visited us, Tania was having her summer holidays with him.

As I saw her, I immediately felt hypnotized. She was so cute and extroverted. Told me she wanted to be an actress, and then started to dance and to sing around the living room. Her voice was completely amazing. It was like if we were on a Hollywood film.

Tania was so surprised because none of their family -except his dad, of course-, had spoken to her in English since they arrived to Mexico City. We kind of sympathized, and I started to thinking how would it be to be friends with her. We could send letters to each other, or she could send me photographs or stuff like that. But I was so shy and also I didn't want to recognize that she was awesome, so I didn't ask her.

She became an actress -I found her on Twitter-. Apparently, she remembered me.
I am still thinking how would it be to be friends with her.
